Animal Tracks

What ideas can you come up with for your Animal Tracks Badge?  You could visit, invite, care for, investigate, demonstrate...
Here are some example challenges:

  • Investigate the different footprints of many animals and share your discovery.
  • Demonstrate how to use tracking symbols and leave a track for someone to follow.
  • Visit a zoo or wildlife park and learn about the work they do.
  • Search a park for any footprints and investigate the animals that caused them.
  • Learn about an endangered species and think up ways to help.
  • Learn about stalking and give it a try.
  • Research various bush traps and create a trap to catch a feral cat.
  • Find out about 2 animals which aren't native to Australia but now run wild here
  • Build a model foot of an animal.
  • Investigate different methods of tracking animals (eg. footprints, scats, disturbed grass).
  • Investigate the number of toes of a variety of animals. (eg. sloth, ostrich, dog, frog, horse)
  • Find out what an 'opposable thumb' is and why it is useful to some animals.
  • Investigate the padding on the feet of some animals (eg. disks on frogs, padded paws...)
  • Find out why it is important for horses to wear horse shoes.

Or any other challenge or group of challenges that relate to Animal Tracks and mean you are achieving your personal best.
